Built to Australian Standards

Built to the standard, and to your OT's specification

Every modification starts with your occupational therapist's specification, which sets the exact heights and sizes for your body and the way you move. We build to that specification and to the Australian Standards and building codes that apply, then hand over the certificates to prove it.

AS 1428.1, design for access and mobility. The national standard for accessible design: space to move and turn, where grab rails go and how strong they must be, toilet and basin heights, and doorways.

Livable Housing Design Standard (NCC 2022). Required for new Queensland homes since 1 October 2023, and a smart guide for renovations too.

AS 4586, slip resistance. Floor tiles rated for wet areas, so the bathroom stays safer underfoot.

QBCC, waterproofing and plumbing rules. Licensed trades, QBCC contracts and home warranty insurance where required, with waterproofing, plumbing and electrical certificates at handover.

What this means in your bathroom

  • A step-free, hobless shower with a gentle fall to the drain
  • Reinforced walls, with grab rails fixed to take full body weight
  • Lever taps and temperature-controlled hot water
  • Slip-resistant tiles and good colour contrast, so edges are easy to see
  • Room to turn a wheelchair or walker, and space beside the toilet for transfers
  • Wider doorways, with doors that open outward or slide

Measurements depend on the person and on which standard applies, so we never guess: your OT's specification comes first.
