Adjustment to injury counselling

An injury or illness can change how you sleep, how you feel about yourself, your relationships and your work. We help you make sense of what's changed, manage pain and stress, and rebuild confidence for what comes next.

Who it's for

  • You're living with pain, fatigue or a new physical limitation
  • You feel anxious, low, frustrated or not like yourself since your injury
  • Sleep, relationships or confidence have taken a hit
  • You're worried about your job, your money or your future
  • Your GP, case manager or treating team has suggested counselling

How we help

  • Practical strategies for pain, sleep, stress and worry
  • Making sense of loss and change to your identity and routine
  • Evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing
  • Setting realistic goals for home, work and the things you enjoy
  • Working with your GP and treating team, with your consent

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

Not for private sessions. For sessions funded on a claim, your insurer or case manager usually needs to approve them first, and we can help you ask.

Is this the same as seeing a psychologist?

Rehabilitation counsellors are trained in both mental health and employment, so we focus on coping now and on getting back to work, study and the things that matter to you.

Can I have sessions by telehealth?

Yes. Secure video and phone sessions are available anywhere in Australia.
